Yanni's Greek Taverna
Roses and Uzu at Yanni's Who knew a restaurant could make making up so delicious? If you're thinking there's a story behind that sentence, you'd be right and here it is. It was the night before Valentine's Day and all through the house I paced, thinking of how to go about breaking up with my boyfriend at the time (currently my husband). I won't go into why I felt we needed to break up (personal issues), but at that time, I felt there was no other way.
Of course this viewpoint changed the morning after, leaving me with a big ole knot of regret in my stomach. To my surprise, he had answered my many voice messages to him by coming over to my apartment and stealing me away to a restaurant I had never dined at before.
The place was a marvel of Greek cuisine and ambiance. This place was Yanni's Greek Taverna, located in Greenwood Village, Colorado (in the Denver Metro Area). Over Dinner and Uzu, I tried to explain my recent impulsive decision to break up and my deep regret over it to my boyfriend, but he seemed too taken away by the music, the candle lighting, and the man, whom we took to be the owner, handing out roses to all the couples.
Romance took over. All was forgiven and forgotten (with the exception of that fabulous food which is unforgettable). Today, we are married with a three year old daughter. In the rare instance we get to have a date night, we're always sure to make the place Yanni's.
