Up and Away: Snowmass, Colorado

What a weekend! I don't normally write these things, but felt that I had to share - I'm just back from the best weekend holiday that I've ever had. Every minute was fun packed up in the hills at Snowmass Village in the high Northwest of Colorado.
We went up there to ski and were not disappointed with a the recent falls. Every morning was a fresh crisp covering of perfect running snow. Every level of expertise is catered for. If I say so myself, I'm quite a good skier and some of the runs were challenging, but the children, on the slopes for the first time, were well served on the training slope classes, which left us adults to run off some steam on the slopes.
We were only there for three nights, but since it was our tenth anniversary we wanted a special treat to round off the long weekend break and find something that we could do together as a family with our two small children. You should have heard them squeal with delight as we took to the air in the hot-air balloon. The morning stillness was breathtaking and quickly became thrilling as the balloon's heater roared every so often, lifting us over snow filled forests and valleys.
We're going back in spring or early fall to try some mountain biking, and if I know the kids you can be sure that they'll be wanting another balloon trip, and hubby may yet get that round of golf in once the winter snow has lifted!
