Lory State Park

by Riley
(Fort Collins, CO, USA)

Lory State Park is a hidden gem nestled in the foothills near Horsetooth Reservoir and the exciting college town of Fort Collins. Approximately seventy miles from Denver, it is a fantastic day trip destination.

With over twenty miles of trails (many of which are easy hikes for anyone) and a beautiful view of Horestooth Reservoir a day in Lory State Park is not one that is easily forgotten. For the more adventurous types, it is possible to actually hike to the summit of Horsetooth Rock, and from there you can see all of Fort Collins, a beautiful sight to behold.

Overnight camping is also an option and many campsites in the backwoods are already established. Lory State Park has a Conference Center in their visitor’s facility available for booking. Wwhat better way to boost morale of your small business than by holding a team building exercise in the cool, crisp foothills?

A small fee of $6 per vehicle is necessary at the gate, but the surrounding views, amazing hikes and bountiful wildlife make the experience worth every penny. Lory State park is also amazingly romantic - it is easy to slip away to somewhere secluded and have a private picnic.

And if you end up staying for the full day, make sure you stop in historical Old Town Fort Collins and visit one of the town microbreweries for a refreshing drink and delicious dinner.
