INVESCO Field at Mile High
INVESCO Field at Mile High is home to the Denver Broncos and serves as a multi-purpose stadium in Denver, Colorado. The stadium is easily accessible from Interstate 25 from 17th Avenue and Colfax Avenue exits. Renovations began in 1999, and after completion the stadium’s name changed from Mile High Stadium to INVESCO Field at Mile High. Invesco, an investment management company, paid an astonishing 120 million dollars for naming rights. It was believed that a more modern stadium was necessary for the advancement of the Broncos.
The new renovations and name change did not deter fans from coming out and supporting their home team. Since the stadium change in 2001, every home game has sold out, continuing the Mile High tradition that began in 1970. Bucky the Bronco, the South Stands, Rocky Mountain Thunder, and the Horseshoe Upper Bowl carried over to the new stadium. Bucky the Bronco is a 27 foot, 1,600 pound horse that remains on the grounds. The South Stands are still known to be the rowdy spot for the "superfan". Rocky Mountain Thunder is the overwhelmingly loud stomping from the fans in the stands. The horseshoe shaped upper bowl mimics the shape of the previous Mile High Stadium. Tours of the stadium are offered Tuesday through Saturday (June-August) and Thursday through Saturday (September-May). Tour tickets are $9/adult and $7child/senior. More information regarding tour schedules and routes can be obtained by calling (720) 258-3888.
