I Was Born a Broncos Fan

I was born on August 17, 1959, three days after Denver was awarded a team in the American Football League. I don't exactly remember the first few years of the franchise because I was pretty young then, but I have clear recollections of sitting on my fathers lap at Mile High Stadium watching my Broncos team try to win.
My first favorite player was Floyd Little. I was almost eight years old when they made him the number one pick and the first jersey I ever owned was his #44. During the seventies, I couldn’t go to the games because there were never any tickets available.
Then in 1977 they reached the Super Bowl only to lose to those dreaded Cowboys from Dallas. In 1981, John Elway arrived in Denver. I immediately went out and bought my #7 jersey and eagerly awaited the string of championships that was sure to follow. I had to wait patiently until 1997 when they finally won their first Super Bowl.
I retired the Elway jersey that had been bought sixteen years before and gave a treasured place on the wall of my den. In the years since the last Super Bowl, I have worn several different jerseys, but none of them have ranked up there with my first jersey (#44) and my best jersey (#7).
I know that the future will bring me another jersey that will one day be placed on the Orange Crush Wall of Fame that has become a part of my home. I was born to be a Broncos Fan, and will cheer them on until I can’t cheer anymore.
