Ghostland Observatory at the Aggie
On Saturday night, November 20th, 2010, I saw Ghostland Observatory when they played the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins, CO. It was only my second Ghostland show, but I got hooked on them after I saw them last year. I had been looking forward to the concert since it was announced several months prior.
The group released their fourth album, Codename: Rondo, about a month before the show, and I didn't waste any time getting it. Some of their new songs are now my favorites.
I was especially excited about this show, because I had heard that they had upgraded their lasers -- which I found hard to believe since their lasers from last year were the best I had ever seen, by far. I was glad I had bought my tickets early because the show sold out the day before. No opener was advertised, but a DJ was playing when I got there. I remember everyone looking at the clock behind the stage, trying to figure out when the group was going to come on stage. Everyone was so excited. When they came out the crowd went nuts! Everything was just what I had hoped for and more. The singer, Aaron Behrens, did his oh-so-entertaining dancing. He even did that crazy "get down" to the song “Vibrate.” And the other member, Thomas Turner, was wearing his usual Dracula-style cape. The Aggie was crowded, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I was able to spend the entire night in the second or third row without being crushed. I remember wondering several times during the show if their lights had ever given anyone a seizure. They were that good. So now it’s the waiting game for when they come back. Hopefully they had a good time at the Fort and will want to come back next year. I'll spread the word.
