Fort Collins Breweries

Fort Collins breweries offer a wide variety of brews, many which you would have to travel to the other side of the Atlantic to come close to duplicating. This town is perfect for all beer lovers. Some of these places are bonafide tourist attractions and fun for the entire family! During your next visit to the city, stop in at one of these local spots for a tour and samples.

Fort Collins is home to several microbreweries-- often independently owned, these small scale breweries produce less than 15,000 barrels each year. Additionally, less than 25% of their beer is sold on the premises.

Our largest and most nationally known brewery is New Belgium Brewing Co (500 Linden Street). New Belgium makes several Belgian-inspired beers, hence the name, and currently ranks third as the largest craft-brewer in the United States. Their brews can now be found across the country in at least 15 states. Tours of New Belgium run every half hour till 4:30 P.M., Tuesday through Saturday. Tours fill up quickly so be sure to reserve yours ahead of time.

Odell Brewing Co at 800 East Lincoln Avenue has gained a devoted following for their take on English style beers. In 1989, Odell’s became the 2nd microbrewery to open in Fort Collins. Beers such as Easy Street Wheat and 90 Shilling can be purchased in nine states. Beer tasters can be purchased in the tap room for a small fee that is donated to their Charity of the Month program. Brewery tours are offered Monday through Saturday at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 P.M. Stop in on a Wednesday from 4-6 to enjoy some local live music!

Fort Collins Brewery is located at 1020 East Lincoln Avenue, just west of South Lemay Avenue. Tasters are served here Monday-Thursday (12-6) and Friday & Saturday (12-7). A 20-minute tour is offered at every hour 1-5 P.M. on Saturdays only. Their beers can be found in 17 states across the country.

Equinox Brewing is another Fort Collins brewery. It is located downtown at 133 Remington Street. It’s the newest of all of the breweries and already looks like a success. In their tap house you can sample such brews as Mr. Delicious Oatmeal Stout, Ursa Major Honey Beer, and Eclipse Brown. You can check this place out between 12-8 P.M. (Tuesday-Thursday), 12-9 P.M. (Friday & Saturday), and 12-7 P.M. (Sunday).

Coopersmith’s Pub & Brewery has some distinct tasting brews that can be purchased from a pint all the way up to a keg. Their location is in the heart of Old Town at 5 Old Town Square. Here you can enjoy great food while trying such concoctions as their famous Horsetooth Stout, Black Powder Barley Wine, and Sigda’s Green Chili beers.

Anheuser Busch Brewery can also be found in Fort Collins. This is one of 12 locations and is located just off Interstate 25 at 2351 Busch Drive. Tours of this world famous brewery are offered from 10 A.M.-4 P.M., Daily (June 1st- September 30th) & Thursday-Monday (Oct 1st - May 31st).

In 1995 C.B. & Potts Restaurant & Brewery began making their own ales and lagers through The Big Horn Brewing Company. It was then that they were able to combine their full-service restaurant with hand-crafted local beer. C.B. & Potts is located near Colorado State University at 1427 West Elizabeth Street. Be sure to stop here on a Friday (after 9 P.M.) for half off your bar tab or on a Sunday (after 9 P.M.) to receive half off both your food and drink tab. Ask for their Total Disorder Porter, the recent Gold Medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

Funkwerks is one of the newer microbreweries in town and set itself apart from the others by focusing solely on organic saisons. You can visit the taproom at 1900 E. Lincoln Ave., Unit B. They're open 7 days a week during the summer!

Pateros Creek Brewing is also a new brewery in town. You can visit them at 242 North College Ave., Tuesday-Sunday.

So get out there and try some Fort Collins beer!
