Drum Corps International

Mile High Stadium When I was a junior in high school, I was part of a marching band from Minnesota, and Colorado was our yearly destination for around late June early July.
I loved the weather since it was not humid like Minnesota, so preforming in the various places we had signed up for was not a difficult task. Then the big day came when we were suppose to play at the Mile High Stadium before the Drum Corps International Semi-Finals event of the year.
I was giddy with excitement because I loved watching the drum corps, but it turned around when my band began to warm up! As we did the drills for warming up, the corps were watching US!
Later, as we marched into the stadium and practiced, it was hard not to want to look around because the stadium was so amazing. Breaking attention would have been a very bad thing, but with the wonderful curves and high rising areas of the stadium it was very hard not to.
As we finally came onto the field before the performance, all in our marching gear and instruments ready, I realized we were on the big screen! I ended up being at the perfect angle to watch it without breaking my ranks, so it was fun seeing the guard doing their thing without getting in trouble or messing up.
Later yet, as we watched the corps preform, the sound dynamics were fantastic and I was completely blown away. It was much better than watching the competition we host in my home town each year!
