Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies are my favorite Denver sports team. The franchise has had good teams of late, making the playoffs in 2009. The Rockies lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS series in 2009. The Rockies have won the National League pennant within the past 3 years. They lost to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series in 2007.
The Rockies are always entertaining, because at Coors Field offensive fireworks are the norm. Baseballs always travel farther in high altitude areas, thus there are many high scoring games playing at Coors Field. It is typical to see at least 2 to 3 home runs a game. In addition, the Rockies have a great team, which makes watching baseball that much more enjoyable.
The Rockies battled the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout 2009, losing the division within the last week of the season. The Rockies won 90 games for only the second time in franchise history in 2009. Jim Tracy, hired to replace Clint Hurdle as manager, did a great job leading the Rockies to the playoffs.
The Rockies have had many great players, since the team’s inception in 1993. These include MVP runner up Matt Holliday, Larry Walker, Ellis Burks, Dante Bichette, Todd Helton, and Garrett Atkins to name a few.
Another reason why the Rockies are my favorite sports team, is that the atmosphere at Coors Field is outstanding. The ballpark has excellent concessions such as Buckaroos, a concession stand for kids featuring child sized portions, Beers of the World, Esta Fiesta (Mexican food), Grille Works, Hill Yard Deli, and Madeline’s (the best ice cream in the ballpark). There is nothing better than spending a spring or summer day at the ballpark!
Ticket prices are not that expensive. A family of 4 can enjoy a game at the ballpark for about $150, which includes the tickets (decent seats), food, and parking.
