Colorado Mountains

by Theresa W
(Milwaukee, WI )

While it has been too long since my last visit, I dream of returning to the mountains of Colorado again! I remember the last time I was there as clear as if it was yesterday.

It started with a 16 hour driving trip from my home in Milwaukee. My sister and I were on the early morning driving crew, and I was shocked by the sights as we crossed the border – tumbleweeds! I have seen tumbleweeds in the movies, but it was not until this trip that I encountered them in real life.

The drive to the Copper Mountain Resort always seems so short in the anticipation of our arrival, and before I knew it, we were in Denver with the gorgeous mountain backdrop quickly approaching. This sight is the cue that my perfect vacation is just about to begin.

Compared to the Midwest, Colorado skiing is heavenly. Regardless of month, the weather always seems favorable, with a coat of fresh powder calling my name. This particular trip was sunny and 40, while the night time laid fresh snow. It always seems that six days of fun in my winter wonderland is never long enough, and unfortunately vacation time comes to an end and real life must begin.

One day I hope to live and work in the Denver area, with the mountain backdrop in my back yard, calling my name every day. Until this becomes possible, I will dream that my next vacation to Colorado is not far away.
