Colorado Day Trips

There are plenty of options for Colorado day trips while you are visiting Denver. You could drive into the Rocky Mountains or visit quaint little towns like Estes Park or Manitou Springs. Outdoor sports like fishing hiking, and skiing draw thousands of visitors to the Colorado mountains each year.

There are also great places to go on Colorado day trips that aren’t actually in the mountains, such as Colorado Springs. You could spend a week in Colorado Springs area, and still not see all of the attractions.

Our favorite day trip is Estes Park. We visit at least a couple times a year, and always look forward to the next trip.

Rocky Mountains Colorado Some of the Colorado Day Trips?

-In Georgetown
you can ride a train, browse shops, or go for a hike.

-Pikes Peak
is "America's Mountain," the most visited mountain in North America and the second most visited in the world.

-Estes Park Colorado
is known as the "Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park." It is a super-fun, cute, touristy town. Here you can find the best milkshakes and fudge. In the winter, elk and deer come all the way into town.

-Canon City Colorado
You shouldn't leave Colorado without at last one ride on a historic train. The Royal Gorge Train departs from Canon City and travels the entire twelve miles of the Royal Gorge.

-Manitou Springs
Take a ride up to Pikes Peak on the Pikes Peak Cograil. Take a trip back in time at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings.

-Or maybe you would enjoy visiting a waterfall and a hike.

-Clear Lake
A great place to go fishing! It’s also conveniently close to Georgetown, so you could do both in one day.

-Mt. Falcon
The location of a scene in the book "Little Britches."

-Leadville Colorado
A great place to see Colorado historical sites and beautiful mountain scenery. If you go to Leadville in the fall, you will have a beautiful drive up through the golden yellow Aspen trees.

-Cripple Creek Colorado
If you like history, beautiful mountain scenery and want to toss a little gambling into the mix, Cripple Creek Colorado should be on your list of places to visit.

-Pawnee Buttes
Visit a part of Colorado that few see - the ruggedly beautiful Pawnee Buttes in the Pawnee National Grasslands.

And these are just a few. Colorado is great for exploring, and you could never see it all. But you can try!
