Bonnie Brae Tavern
Bonnie Brae Tavern opened in 1934. It was started by Carl Dire, son of an Italian Immigrant, and his wife Sue. Eventually they lived in an apartment over the restaurant. They have passed away but the restaurant is still a Denver favorite, maintaining the original look.
The walls are covered with black and white photos of the original owners and the restaurant many years ago. The cheese pizza is superb.

After you finish your dinner, cross the street for dessert at the ice cream shop. All the ice cream is made on location. Malts, banana splits, milkshakes, and ice cream sundaes. Yummmm! Be aware that on warm summer evenings, the line will be out the door. You can also purchase ice cream in containers to take with you, and they have ice cream cakes for sale. There is a nice patio to sit on, as well as some indoor seating. Bonnie Brae Ice Cream 799 S. University Blvd. Denver CO 80209
