Beaver Creek Lodge

by Joshua
(Wichita, KS, USA)

Last year, one of my buddies wanted to do something special for his girlfriend. He was dating an exchange student from Brazil who had never seen snow before, and he really wanted to impress her with a ski trip.

He asked her to go and she accepted, but only with the condition that she could bring a friend. This worked out to my benefit, resulting in an invite myself and a chance to hang out with my Buddy and some nice Brazilians.

We all went out to dinner a few nights before leaving, to get to know each other and plan the trip. Little did I know the next four days would be an experience I will not soon forget.

The five hour trip from Kansas seemed a bit long, but we knew the ride would be worth it because we had both heard of the Beaver Creek Lodge and their many amenities from a mutual friend.

Upon arriving I was immediately impressed. I had been to nice hotels before, but this place was made for kings. It was like walking into a dream. The lighting inside the main lobby automatically put you in a surreal mood. Elaborate woodworking, statues, fine art, and fancy water fountains are throughout the property.

Pool, hot tub, tennis courts, you name it - it is there. We checked in after catching our breath and wiping the drool from our mouths. The service here doesn't skip a beat. They were not just polite, but actually seemed to care about us.

So anyhow, I slept like a champ with the provided aromatherapy. The next morning we set out. It was quite hilarious watching our Brazilian friends tasting snow for the first time. Being a novice skier, I would say the slopes were a little challenging. I was anxious to return to the hotel and jump in the hot tub.

Hated leaving this place. Felt like home.
