Andre's is a small bakery restaurant combination serving Swiss cuisine, chocolates and pastries.
Lunch is served from 10:45-2:30 Tuesday through Saturday. Your waitress will give you two options for lunch- no menus here! The food is usually something along the lines of a quiche, chicken in a pastry shell with gravy and mushrooms, curried chicken, beef and polenta, or Swiss style meatballs. There are many more entrees I'm sure, these are just some of the ones I have had. Along with your meal you will get a small green salad, tomatoes, or beets and a slice of crusty bread. After you have finished your meal the waiter will bring you a tray of desserts to choose from. They serve desserts like napoleons, tiramisu, small cake squares, pie, and fruit tarts. Each meal including dessert is $11.50 They have a small shop at the front of the restaurant where you can order Swiss chocolates, pastries, tortes, any of their desserts, and even gourmet dog biscuits to take with you. It's fun just to look at the dessert case, which has a huge variety of mouthwatering desserts, including animals made of marzipan. There is also a small selection of pastry shells and other specialty items for preparing a main dish meal. They also make some beautiful wedding cakes. You can order personalized chocolate boxes, and have your torte personalized for a birthday or special occasion. They make beautiful tortes (like a fancy cake) with many different flavors. You can customize your torte or order one that is already 'put together'. Their beautiful chocolates are fresh and creamy, truly gourmet!! Andre's was started by Andre and Elsbeth Bollier in Kansas City in 1955. It originally only sold chocolates, but as the business grew lunch was added and other locations opened. The restaurant has passed down through generations and the children and grandchildren of the original owners still operate the business. Note: This may not be a great place to take kids, as the menus tend to offer more gourmet choices and only two options are given. For small kids, you can ask for a half portion, and take out boxes are available.
