16th Street Denver
Locals call the 16th Street Mall simply "16 Street." Tourists usually return home talking about "16th Street Denver." 16th Street is closed to traffic, except for local deliveries and bus service. The pedestrian mall stretches sixteen blocks and 1.25 miles. Over 300 stores and 50 restaurants are located here, but for tourists the most favored activity is simply taking in the hustle-bustle of street activity. I recently spent several hours on 16th Street and took these photos. I didn't use the free bus service, but if I had there wouldn't have been a long wait. Buses are constantly running up and down the street. Catch one at any intersection along the pedestrian mall. The mall is a magnet for street performers. Some of the musicians are quite talented. The better ones draw a crowd and make a little money. The Hard Rock Cafe Denver is a favorite hangout. I walked right in for lunch, no waiting Beautiful fountains and landscaping on the mall. The Paramount Theatre hosts some of America's hottest touring acts. In addition to Weird Al and Adam Lambert, Carole King and James Taylor were co-headlining an upcoming show.
